Last week the Hennessey Town crew enjoyed some quality sunshine while tackling a task that, at first glance, looked like a full-blown knot-tying competition. The old, worn nets on the soccer goals were replaced, and what started out as a tangled mess quickly turned into, game-ready goals.
For those just tuning in, the original soccer field, established several years ago by town trustee Harold Shaw, was located at the corner of W Oklahoma St and Cemetery Rd. That site has since taken on a new life as the Kingfisher County District 2 equipment yard.
The goals were recently relocated to W 2nd St, next to the new pavilion site, and are now officially back in business. Fresh nets, open field, all that’s missing now is the first whistle and a few well-aimed shots.
