The Hennessey High School basketball teams recently hit the road for the Three Rivers Conference Tournament, held January 8-10 in Watonga. The Eagles and Lady Eagles represented their school with pride in this competitive showcase.
The Eagles (boys’ team), coached by Dallas Hunt and Doug Boyd, faced a solid lineup of opponents: Fairview, Cashion, and the Woodward JV squad. They battled hard across the multi-day event at the Watonga Eagles Event Center, competing against familiar conference foes in what proved to be an intense tournament atmosphere.
The Lady Eagles (girls’ team), led by head coach Brian Richardson and assistant Lisa Weaver, took on Watonga, Okarche, and Fairview. They delivered a strong performance throughout the bracket, advancing deep into the tournament with determination and teamwork. In a commendable finish, the Lady Eagles secured runner-up honors in the Three Rivers Conference Tournamentโfinishing as the conference’s second-best team after a tough title game where Fairview’s defense proved too much to overcome in the finals.
This runner-up achievement highlights the Lady Eagles’ consistency and grit this season, building momentum as they head into the rest of the schedule. Both teams showed heart and represented Hennessey well on the road.
Great job to all the players, coaches, and supporters who made the trip to Watonga! Keep soaring, Eagles!
