AAH- Amy Hardin Smith
My dad, Randy Hardin, ran Hardin Ignition for over 30 years. His time and dedication inside the walls of 210 South Main Street will forever be stamped in my mind- from my own childhood to my boys growing up with dirty knees and hands, wanting to be just like their Papa. It’s more than a building… It’s a place of memories.
Hardin Ignition started with his brother, Floyd, but in 1983, Randy made it his own. He had a work style: “Fix it right the first time.” And it goes to prove he did just that. I watched him fix magneto after magneto, dating and initialing every single one. During those last years leading up to his retirement, he opened one up to find the date stamped the same year I was born,1985. Shoot, telling my age now! But to have a “mag” still running that long, it’s worth it! And let’s just say they don’t make ’em like that anymore.
Royal Signs may have carefully removed the sign from the building, but it won’t remove our name, our legacy, or our pride. The truth is, Hardin Ignition wasn’t just a sign on the building; it leaves behind an impression that was built on hard work, honesty, and heart that’ll stay with everyone who knew the man behind it.
