A large barn west of Hennessey was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon, October 20th.
The Hennessey Fire Department was dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to 11778 E. 630 Road, the property of Tom and Becky Holder. When crews arrived, the barn was already fully engulfed in flames. The wood-framed structure, covered in metal siding, had begun to collapse from the heat and intensity of the blaze.
It was determined the safest course of action was to allow the structure to burn down under controlled conditions rather than risk injury attempting to extinguish it. Thankfully, no animals were inside the barn at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The Dover Fire Department provided mutual aid with a tanker to help support Hennessey crews at the scene.
