In a thrilling Pink Out game, the Hennessey Varsity Lady Eagles defeated the Blackwell Varsity Lady Maroons 5-3 on Monday. Ivana Gutierrez led the charge with an impressive performance, collecting four hits in four at-bats. Her key moment came in the fourth inning when she hit a double, bringing in two runs and putting the Eagles ahead.
The Lady Maroons started strong, scoring in the second inning after a passed ball allowed a runner to cross home plate. But Hennessey quickly tied it up with a sacrifice fly from Paityn Koehn in the third inning.
Kenna Peach was strong on the mound for the Eagles, allowing only four hits and three runs over seven innings. Meanwhile, Blackwell’s pitcher, Emmy Lorg, had a solid outing as well, striking out three batters.
Even though the Lady Maroons stole 11 bases and showed determination, it wasn’t enough to take down the Eagles. Hennessey had a strong all-around performance, with Jaryn Dowell contributing two hits and Tayler Franklin drawing three walks.
