Dennis Lee Garrett, age 71, of Midland, Texas, passed away on June 16, 2025, at Midland Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 25, 1953, in Mount Vernon, Indiana, Dennis was the son of Maurice Edwin and Carolyn May Garrett. He married the love of his life, Melanie Garrett, on November 16, 1974, in Enid, Oklahoma, beginning a beautiful journey of partnership and family.
Dennis devoted his life to working hard and giving selflessly to those around him. Whether it was fixing plumbing at his daughters’ homes, crafting woodworking projects with his grandson, taming bees, or mowing lawns alongside his sister, Dennis was always ready to lend a hand. He found joy in traveling with loved ones, exploring antique stores in search of powder puff jars for Melanie, and more recently, restoring old clocks with careful attention and curiosity. Out of all things Dennis enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren most. From making their favorite biscuits and gravy, to attending any of their school functions.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Melanie Garrett; his daughters, Angela Garrett and Nicole Monreal (Albert); his mother, Carolyn May Garrett; and his siblings, Daryl Garrett, Doug Garrett, and Diana Miller. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Aaron Jacobs (Katie), Thomas Jacobs, Caleb Jacobs, Bailey Woodward, Casey Woodward, and Derrick Garrett; as well as great-grandchildren: Decklyn Jacobs, Lane (Aiden) Milam, Logan Jacobs, and Levi Acosta.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Edwin Garrett.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
