BISON, Okla. – According to a report by authorities, Waukomis Volunteer Fire Chief and local farmer Bobby Kokojan was injured Monday afternoon when the combine he was operating was struck by a northbound Union Pacific train.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. at an unmarked railroad crossing between Bison and Waukomis. The impact pushed the combine nearly a quarter-mile down the tracks and ignited a fire in the surrounding wheat stubble.
The Waukomis Fire Department quickly responded and extinguished the blaze. Kokojan was airlifted to OU Medical Center. His current condition has not been released. The incident remains under investigation.
