Clare Munroe, Addison Huntsburger, and Kelie Choate added multiple hits of their own in the team’s determined effort.
Tuesday’s matchup held special significance as the Hennessey High School Slow Pitch Softball team honored their one and only senior, Kylee Copeland, in a pregame ceremony. As part of the Lady Eagles’ long-standing tradition, they also recognized the senior athletes from Crescent. Each of the Tigers’ four seniors was presented with a rose in a show of sportsmanship and mutual respect.
Crescent came out swinging early, launching back-to-back home runs in the first and piling on 10 more runs in the second on a barrage of hits. The Tigers finished the day with 20 hits and flawless defense, turning one double play and committing no errors.
Addison Huntsburger started in the circle for Hennessey, surrendering seven runs on nine hits in the first inning. Kallie Rapp entered in relief and pitched three innings, allowing nine more runs on 11 hits.
Despite the score, Hennessey’s offense never let up, and the Lady Eagles continued to fight at the plate. They’ll look to carry that energy forward as they prepare for their next matchup.
