Say hello to the newest member of the Hennessey Police Department—John Gay II
John was working for Pope Distributing, making regular stops around town, when a quick chat with Officer Logan Blackburn changed everything. While on his route, John asked the golden question: “Hey, is Hennessey PD hiring?” Turns out, they were—and just like that, a new path opened up.
With an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice already under his belt, John was more than ready to take the leap. He officially joined the department this spring and is set to head to the Enid Police Academy in July to get the full training experience.
John currently lives in Enid but plans to move to Fairmont, putting him closer to the area he now serves and protects. Between his strong work ethic, easygoing nature, and commitment to the job, Officer Gay is already fitting in just fine.
From the delivery truck to patrol car, John’s journey proves you never know where one conversation might lead.
