Trena (Thompson) Gardner was raised in Hennessey by Melvin and Marge Thompson. She has one sibling Traci Thompson who lives in Edmond. Melvin believed in serving your community and served as mayor and on the town council for many years. This strong example of leadership and love, led Trena to serve. She bought into that philosophy of service and has served on the Kingfisher County 522 Ambulance District for many years. Trena graduated from Hennessey High School in 1980. While in high school she participated in basketball, track, chorus and student council. After high school Trena worked in the oilfield as a secretary in the early 1980’s and in 1986 began a 26 year career in banking in the Kingfisher area. In 2013, she began working for Pioneer telephone Cooperative in Hennessey. Trena has cherished getting to come back to her hometown of Hennessey. Being back in Hennessey gave her the privilege to see her parents everyday for the last years of their lives. Trena married Bobby Gardner in May 1981 and will celebrate 44 years this year! Bobby served on the Dover Fire Department for 26 years as a firefighter and later in his service as Chief. Bobby and Trena are members of the Dover Christian Church and love serving there. Trena has been on mission trips to Kentucky, New Orleans, Eureka Springs and has served on many local mission opportunities as well. Trena’s love is doing youth groups for the high school youth. Bobby and Trena hosted a foreign exchange student from Germany in 2009. They continue to stay in contact with him and have enjoyed watching his family grow as well. They have three children. Marcy Pribyl and husband Cris, Lane and fiance Kaitlyn and Mitchell and wife Staci. Bobby and Trena have six grandchildren- Jentry, Brytan, Keeton, Jett, Austin and Hunter. Trena loves to watch sports, being outside and hanging out with her family. Trena always has a smile and hug for people. If her grandchildren are playing a sport or have an event, you will see her supporting them. She has a huge heart, a servant’s heart! AAH, Shelley Muzny
