The funeral for Merwyn LeMoyne Pray, 81 will be at 10:00 AM Saturday February 15, 2025 at Union Chapel Church, officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Burial will follow at Lyon Valley Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. Viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
Merwyn was born in Hennessey on May 10, 1943 to LeMoyne and Alice Riddle Pray and died Tuesday February 11, 2025 at O.U. Health Center in Edmond.
Merwyn graduated from Hennessey High School in 1961 and then attended Oklahoma State University. He married Sharen States at Union Chapel Church August 3, 1962.
The couple moved to Enid and Merwyn was a career firefighter with Enid Fire Department having retired after twenty-five years of service. Merwyn was also a mechanical wizard and enjoyed working on boats, cars and anything that needed to be fixed. He especially loved restoring Corvettes and was nationally known in the restoration community. He and Sharen returned to Hennessey following his retirement.
Merwyn is survived by his wife Sharen of the home; one daughter Daphne Stewart and husband Sean of Carmel, New York, three grandchildren Taber Stewart and wife Stephanie, Jordan Stewart, Kalie Ibarra and husband Aurelio; three great-grandchildren Neil Stewart, Lucy Stewart, and Lily Ibarra.
He was preceded in death by his father, LeMoyne Pray, stepmother Rita Pray, mother Alice Wiese, stepfather Elmer Wiese, and one sister Sandra Beauchamp.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hennessey Care Center Activity Fund with the funeral home serving as custodian.
