A Legacy of Flight: Austin Jordan Earns his Gold Wings

A LEGACY OF FLIGHT: AUSTIN JORDAN EARNS HIS GOLD WINGS

Austin Jordan, a graduate from Okeene, recently earned his gold wings. He is the son of Gracie Jordan and the late Gary Jordan, founder of Jordan Air, Inc. To celebrate this remarkable achievement, Austin was surrounded by his loved ones, including his wife, Cydnee; his mother, Gracie; his brother, Terry Jordan, who had the honor of pinning the wings on him; and his sister-in-law, Jill, who traveled from Hugoton, Kansas, Austin’s Aunt Mary Canales, cousin Joseph Deaton, and good friend Doug Carthel, who is a pilot for Jordan Air. Austin is proud to carry on the legacy of his late father, Gary Jordan, of Jordan Air, Inc. in Okeene.

Austin drew inspiration from his college professors, who encouraged him to follow a path they had both traveled—the Navy. Although Austin initially thought the Air Force was going to be his choice of military service, the callback he was expecting never came. He then looked into the Navy, which made it clear that he had some hard work to do to get into shape. After two years of dedicated effort, Austin’s dream began to become a reality. He attended Officer Candidate School (OSC) in Newport, Rhode Island, followed by the Aviation Preflight Indoctrination (API) course in Pensacola, Florida,  Primary Flight School in Milton, Florida, and Flight Training in Kingsville, Texas, where he received his gold wings. Throughout his four years of training, Austin faced many challenges on his journey to achieve his goal. He emphasized the importance of patience and hard work, even during difficult times. Austin believes that his dedication and perseverance were crucial in helping him reach this milestone. He offered advice for young aspirants: just because you don’t see progress when you’re not reaching your goals, never give up. There is a place for everyone who works hard.
