For 17 years, the Reserve Angels have been spreading Christmas cheer to families in need in the Hennessey and Dover area. This year, helping 54 families. Each year, the community comes together to purchase gifts for the Reserve Angel families, gifts are then given out by Hennessey first responders on Christmas Eve.
The “Reserve Angel” project has become a beloved tradition for the Hennessey United Hennessey High School Senior Leadership Class. Led by Mrs. Marie Parrish, the students are divided into groups and given a specific budget to shop for their assigned angels. With guidance from Reserve Angel organizer Shelley Burch, thirty-two students had two weeks to shop for eight families. They came together on December 12th for a fun wrapping party. The students truly enjoyed the experience, knowing that their efforts will bring joy to a child’s face on Christmas. Each “Angel” will receive five gifts and a book.
The Reserve Angels are tremendously grateful for the support of Mr. Parish’s Leadership Classes. The students generously shopped for and wrapped gifts for eight Angel families. This incredible feat would not have been possible without the generous donations from the Hennessey United group and the leadership of Cathy Howard and Teresa Oliver. Additionally, the project received support from various donors, including the Jr. Paine family, Pioneer, Energy Metering Service, Seidle Family Foundation, and Interbank. Their generosity enabled the Reserve Angels to bring holiday happiness to these families in need.
