The Hennessey Town Trustees recently approved replacing a section of Dunlap Street along the west side of Pavilion Park, the same stretch that sees plenty of tire smoke during the annual Rev Up and Roll Out Car Show.
Enter Buddy Daniels.
Buddy not only offered to donate the work, he also lined up a major concrete donation from Croell Ready Mix of Kingfisher. That alone would’ve been enough for most folks to call it a win. But Buddy didn’t stop at “good enough.”
The original plan called for replacing about 100 feet of roadway south of W. 1st Street. Burn out show organizers Mark and Susan Henry suggested shifting the new section slightly north to tie into the old burnout pad, making the space more usable.
That’s when Buddy went to work.
Because the new concrete extended past the intersection, he took it a step further, widening the corners to make turns easier for trucks and trailers. And while his crew was already on site, they tackled a drainage issue and installed bollards to keep folks from stepping into the improved runoff area.
Turns out “just fixing the road” isn’t really Buddy’s style. Thanks to Buddy Daniels and Croell Ready Mix for raising the bar and making Hennessey a little better in the process.
