The legendary Robert C. Lovell reached a milestone most folks only dream about, the big 100. And judging by the turnout on Saturday, March 21, the community showed up in a big way to celebrate alongside him.
Friends and family gathered at the One Twenty Two Center on Main Street in Hennessey for a come-and-go reception filled with laughter, conversation, and stories that have only gotten better with time.
Bob lived a life rooted in service, resilience, and history. A proud veteran of the 6th Armored Division, he served during World War II and later shared his experiences through his book, The Unlikely Warrior. His story offered a personal look at the war through the eyes of a small-town soldier.
Reaching 100 years is no small accomplishment. It brought together a room full of friends, plenty of cake and cookies, and a well-earned moment to reflect on a life that spanned a full century.
Bob’s official birthday was March 27, and the celebration extended beyond just one day. When you make it to 100, one party simply is not enough. Happy 100th Birthday, Bob. Photos by AAH Jack Quirk
