After years of driver’s complaining, bouncing, and possibly checking their tires after crossing the tracks, Union Pacific Railroad is finally planning repairs to the railroad crossing near the intersection of Hwy 51 and Hwy 81 in Hennessey.
Union Pacific has posted signs stating the crossing will be closed April 3 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. while crews work to repair the long-troubled stretch of track and pavement.
Motorists should plan alternate routes during the closure and allow a little extra travel time getting across town.
With a little luck, the temporary inconvenience will result in a much smoother ride, and fewer coffee spills, when crossing the tracks in the future.
