HENNESSEY — The Hennessey Fire Department recently hosted its annual breakfast to honor the retired firefighters who helped build the department and serve the community over the years.
Current HFD members cooked and served breakfast for several retired firefighters as a way to say thank you for their years of service and dedication to protecting Hennessey.
Among those attending were retired firefighters Bert Gritz, Tim Riddle and Tom Streck, along with others who spent many years responding to calls and helping shape the department into what it is today.
The annual breakfast is a simple but meaningful tradition for the department, giving current firefighters a chance to visit with those who came before them and recognize the work they did for the community.
HFD members said they are grateful for the retired firefighters who laid the groundwork for the department and helped protect Hennessey citizens for so many years.
They also thanked the current firefighters who helped prepare the breakfast and continued carrying on the department’s tradition of service.
