The funeral for Terrel Jay Sturgeon, 78 will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday January 13, 2026, at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Cremation will follow.
Terrel was born at Kingfisher on September 4, 1947, to J. W. and Dorothy Mauck Sturgeon and died Thursday January 8, 2026, at Westhaven Nursing Home in Stillwater.
He married Kay Lantz in Eureka Springs, Arkansas on July 2, 2002. The couple lived on the farm west of Hennessey prior to moving to Stillwater.
Terrel is survived by his wife Kay of the home, two daughters Amy Divis and husband Lonnie of Enid, Jaime Tillman and Joe White of Tahlequah: four stepchildren Shari Matli of Hennessey. Rebecca Reames and husband Bret of Isabella Misty Wimer and husband Terry of Newcastle, Kris Lantz and wife Wendy of Stillwater; six grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and five step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Kathy, and one great-grandchild.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Parkinsons Foundation with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
