The Hennessey High School Leadership class spent Wednesday, November 19, in Oklahoma City for a hands-on look at Oklahoma government and history. The day began at the State Capitol, where students toured the building and met with Senator Chuck Hall and Representative Mike Dobrinski. Both lawmakers carved out time to talk with the group, offering straight-from-the-source insight into how state government works and what public service really looks like.
Students also explored the Capitol’s historic architecture and grabbed lunch at Clara Belle’s on the ground floor—a welcome break before heading into the afternoon.
Across the street, the Oklahoma History Museum provided a second round of learning. Students moved through the exhibits, stopping for plenty of photos and taking in stories that shaped the state long before they were born.
The Hennessey High School Leadership program is one of several community-minded initiatives developed by Hennessey United, founded in 2018. The program is coordinated by Cathy Howard and a dedicated team of volunteers, with support from corporate sponsors like Enel and ongoing contributions from the community.
