October 15 was a standout day for the Golden Eagles Senior Citizen Club of Hennessey as members traveled to Oklahoma State University for a field trip focused on the future of senior living.
Led by Dana Boutwell with Choice Health at Home, the group spent the day exploring new technology and innovative resources designed to help seniors live more safely, comfortably, and independently as they age. From smart-home safety devices to practical daily-living aids, the visit offered an eye-opening look at how modern tools can support aging with dignity and confidence.
The trip was made possible thanks to strong community support. A special thank-you goes to Jimmy Berkebile, who handled the driving duties like a seasoned pro, and to First Baptist Church of Hennessey for generously loaning their bus. It really does take a small village to move a bus full of golden-hearted Eagles—and this village delivered.
One of the most meaningful moments of the day came from watching the next generation step up. Remington, who has been volunteering in senior outreach since the age of eight, was recognized for her continued dedication. Seeing her grow into a young leader with a heart for serving seniors is one of those rare bright spots that reminds everyone why community matters.
A memorable day for the Golden Eagles, and a reminder that support, innovation, and kindness span every generation.
