The Hennessey Eagles celebrated a thrilling 48-16 victory against the Kellyville Ponies, extending their winning streak to five games for the first time since the 2015 season.
The game kicked off with excitement as Brytan Gardner recovered a fumble on Kellyvilleโs opening drive. Quarterback Levi Ferrell took advantage, rushing 31 yards and then scoring on a 3-yard rushing touchdown to put the Eagles ahead 7-0. After a strong defensive effort, Ferrell connected with Gardner for a 32-yard pass, ending another drive with a 1-yard touchdown run by Ferrell, making it 14-0. Kellyville answered with a 54-yard touchdown pass, cutting the Eagles’ lead to 14-7.
In the second quarter, Alex Gonzalez made a spectacular 54-yard rushing touchdown, increasing Hennesseyโs lead to 20-10 at halftime.
The Eagles continued to dominate in the second half, with Ferrell scoring again along with two more touchdowns from Gonzalez and Mario Lopez. The Eagles’ offensive line played a crucial role, paving the way for an impressive 389 total rushing yards. Defensively, Luis Macias-Montoya and Jameson Ladwig helped keep Kellyville at bay to secure the win.
Top performers included Ferrell with 140 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Gonzalez added 136 rushing yards and three touchdowns of his own. Together, the Eagles showcased their hard work and skill, finishing with 471 total offensive yards.
The Eagles will play next Friday night at home vs. the Luther Lions. Kickoff at 7:00 PM.
