The town’s 25-year-old street sweeper, originally purchased used, has officially reached the end of its service life. Extensive hydraulic and brake failures, along with a rusted hopper, have rendered the unit inoperable. Despite multiple repair attempts, the machine can no longer be restored.
A new street sweeper was recently demonstrated for the town at an estimated cost of $205,000. A second, smaller model, priced around $130,000, will be evaluated at an upcoming meeting. Contracted street-sweeping services were ruled out after bids came in at over $5,000 per service. Trustees agreed to revisit the issue once all demonstrations are complete and cost comparisons are reviewed.
Boy Scout Park Court Proposal
Board Member David Jones proposed repurposing the old basketball court at Boy Scout Park into a pickleball court, a sport growing rapidly in popularity across Oklahoma.
Other trustees suggested restoring it as a basketball court for local youth or creating a multi-use surface that could accommodate both games with shared markings.
To ensure the project reflects community interests, the board decided to collect public feedback through an All About Hennessey online survey before making a final decision.
