Fire Prevention Week was observed October 5thโ11th, with this yearโs theme focusing on โCharge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.โ The Hennessey Fire Department visited both the Early Childhood Centerand the Elementary School to teach students about the importance of fire safety.
Chief Brandon Scott spoke with the students about lithium-ion batteries, general fire safety, and when to call 911. The highlight of the day came when Marshall the fire dog made a special appearance โ and even joined the fourth graders for a lively game of dodgeball during PE.
The Hennessey Fire Department currently has 19 volunteer firefighters, all dedicated to protecting the community. The Hennessey area is truly fortunate to have such generous, selfless, and kind volunteers who leave their jobs and families at a momentโs notice to help others in need. It takes a special kind of person to be a volunteer firefighter, and the community is grateful for every one of them.
