Pete Reed, a retired Oklahoma Army National Guard major, is on a mission to visit 100 cities across all 77 counties to raise funds for the First American Warrior monument at the new Veterans Memorial Park near the state Capitol.
Reed shared his passion project with the Hennessey Lions Club on Thursday, September 18, answering questions and encouraging support.
The project, part of the Force 50 Foundation’s Native American Warrior Project, aims to raise $2.5 million, primarily through grassroots donations of $25. Once funded, Native American artists will be commissioned to design the monument, the first to be installed in the park.
Reed, a founder of Force 50, said the effort honors veterans and carries forward the legacy of the late Gov. George Nigh. Donations can be made at force50foundation.com. Photo by AAH Jack Quirk
