At the September 18th meeting, Hennessey Lions Club President Tim Riddle shared several exciting updates on the clubโs recent activities, community contributions, and upcoming events.
Scholarship Fund Strengthened
The club received a $2,500 donation from the Roundup Club for their work at the rodeo concession stand. This boost ensures the Lionsโ scholarship program can continue for the next eight years, with $500 awarded annually.
Circus Coming to Town
The Lions Club will sponsor the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus on September 26. Ticket sales benefit the club, with 50% earned on pre-sold tickets and 10% on tickets sold the day of the show.

- Pre-sold childrenโs tickets: $8 (increase to $9 day of)
Giving Back
Members voted to contribute a $500 donation to the Farm Bureau coat drive, which provides new coats for children in Kingfisher County and potentially across all 77 counties in Oklahoma. The funds will especially help supply coats for younger children where the need is greatest.
Pumpkin Decorating Contest Returns
The Lions Club will once again host its popular pumpkin decorating contest, with entries displayed at Town Hall. Pumpkins may be carved or painted, but carved entries must use battery-operated lights rather than candles. The goal is to gather enough pumpkins to decorate businesses throughout Main Street.
Business Trick-or-Treat
The annual business trick-or-treat event is scheduled for October 31 from 3:00โ4:30 p.m., aligning with the schoolโs Halloween party. Local businesses are encouraged to join in making this a safe and fun event for children.
The Hennessey Lions Club continues its tradition of service, bringing events, support, and festive spirit to the community.
