Residents across Oklahoma looking for a career boost have a valuable resource right here in Enid. WorkReady Enid, a workforce development program, is designed not only to connect people with jobs but also to help them build meaningful, long-term careers.
Rachel Harris and Jody Bradford, representatives of WorkReady Enid, recently shared details about the program in a webshow interview.
โAt its core, WorkReady helps people communicate the value they bring to a company,โ Harris explained. โItโs not always the person with the best skills who gets the jobโitโs the one who can best present themselves.โ
Workshops That Work
WorkReady hosts free, week-long workshops once a month at CDSA, 114 South Independence, on the square in downtown Enid. These workshops go beyond the basics, offering:
- Professional resume writingย tailored to individual job goals.
- Job coachingย designed to build confidence.
- Interview preparationย focused on each participantโs career path.
โWe donโt just hand out generic resumes,โ Bradford said. โOur writers create resumes specific to the job you want, and our coaches help you feel confident walking into an interview.โ
Who Can Participate?
WorkReady is open to anyone 18 and older who is:
- Unemployed
- Looking to change careers
- Interested in pursuing remote work
Unlike staffing agencies, WorkReady takes a hands-on approach, focusing on career fit rather than just job placement. โWe donโt just place people in any job,โ Harris added. โWe help them find work that matches their skills and passions, leading to long-term success.โ
Upcoming Events
In addition to workshops, WorkReady organizes a major fall job fair, Worklahoma, which returns September 9 at the Stride Center. Already, more than 18 businesses have committed to attending, with more expected to join.
Lifelong Support
One of the most unique aspects of WorkReady is its ongoing connection with participants. โOnce in WorkReady, always in WorkReady,โ Bradford said. โWe follow up with participants and continue to provide resources even after theyโre hired.โ
