This week, Hennessey Public Schools Transportation took an important step in teaching students how to stay safe on the bus.
Buses were brought to the schools, where students from Pre-K through 8th grade climbed aboard for a hands-on safety session. Transportation team members Gary Beaman and Erin Wulffenstein led the discussions, reminding students about the rules and procedures that help keep everyone safe during daily rides.
After the safety talk, students practiced an emergency evacuation by exiting the buses through the rear doors—just as they would in a real-life situation. The exercise gave students practical experience and confidence in how to respond quickly and calmly if an emergency were to occur.
By taking part in these lessons, Hennessey students not only learned valuable safety skills but also gained a greater understanding of the responsibility that comes with riding the school bus.
