Hennessey firefighters, assisted by the Dover Fire Department, spent several hours battling a stubborn brush fire northwest of town.
The blaze broke out around 3 p.m., on Thursday, August 14th, about a half-mile north of the intersection of NW 2820 (Country Club and Hwy 51) and EW 590, NW of Hennessey. All three Hennessey brush trucks were on scene, joined by Dover’s tanker and one brush truck. Crews worked until about 6 p.m. to bring the fire under control.
Fueled by six-foot-tall weeds and a dense tree line, the fire proved difficult to access and contain. Kingfisher County Emergency Management was also on scene, providing support.
