The annual Back-to-School Bash took place in Hennessey on Sunday, August 3, 2025, as many students gathered at First Christian Church to receive brand-new backpacks and school supplies to help them start the year off right.
The Hennessey Fire Department manned the grill, serving up free hot dogs to everyone who came through. After the supplies were handed out, the celebration continued with a free swim at the Hennessey Pool from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Each year, organizers plan to supply about a third of all local 1st through 8th grade students, along with 40 high schoolers – roughly 175 students total. This year, 169 of those students received supplies at the event.
Thanks to the volunteers, donors, and community members who made the evening a success, many Hennessey students are now better prepared for the school year ahead. Photos by AAH Shelley Muzny
