The Gathering Place was buzzing Saturday evening, July 12, as around 75 friends and neighbors came out to support the fundraiser for the Old Lacy School. It was the kind of event that reminds you why small towns are special. Good food, great company, and a whole lot of heart.
Dinner was pulled pork sandwiches, generously donated by Seaboard Foods, and served up with a smile. After everyone got their fill, the live auction got rolling. Justin Choate and Kole Smith kept the energy up as folks bid on all kinds of donated items, from homemade goods to must-have treasures.
But the night wasn’t just about raising money. It was also about reconnecting. Neighbors caught up, shared old stories, and many reminisced about their school days at Lacy. One special moment was when everyone who attended the school lined up for a group photo, a fun snapshot of Lacy’s living history.
With strong support and generous hearts, the night was a big win for the restoration project. It was a great reminder of how powerful a close-knit community can be.
Another successful fundraiser sponsored by CAT for the Lacey Community Center Roof Project. Nearly 100 folks came together to raise $9,041.50.
It’s not possible for an evening without a lot of community effort and involvement, period. Michael Drake and Dana Fuxa are always willing to help with their cowboy baked beans, a community favorite. Seaboard Farms donated their great pork butts cooked by Danny Bossa. Desserts were provided by the Lacey Cranston.
card club members. Every donation adds up from the donations made at the door to the purchaser at the auction period, which the auction would have happened without, wouldn’t have happened without everyone who donated items for the auction. Just another wonderful evening of community coming together to help a group in need and to help preserve an important piece of history.
2,500 are still needed to completely fund the project. If you’d like to donate to the cause, donations can be made at CSB through the CAT team Lacey Roof Project in the memo. Thank you to everyone who participated and supporting your community.
