The funeral for Barbara Platt, 93 will be at 11:00 AM Saturday June 28, 2025 at First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Sandra Shepherd. Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
Barbara was born in Hennessey on July 2, 1931 to Ernest Frakes and Vivian Dixon Frakes and died peacefully Thursday June 19, 2025 at her home in Hennessey with her family by her side.
She married Lester Platt in Hennessey on July 15, 1948. Barbara was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Hennessey Mother’s Club, and was very active in the Hennessey Senior Citizens Center where she delivered many meals to shut-ins.
Barbara is survived by one son Harold Platt and wife Terrie of Justin, Texas, one daughter Rita Ferguson and husband John of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two sisters Linda Pribyl of Hennessey, Norma Unger of Boston, Massachusetts, ten grandchildren Lori Jackson, Darrell Platt and wife Tressie, Jennifer Platt, Joe Platt and wife Tiffany, Kadi Davenport and husband Ryan, Jeromy McAlister and wife Kendra, Chad McAlister and Casandra, Amy McAlister and Will, Angie Grimes, Lucas Ferguson, and twenty-one great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, one son-in-law Dennis McAlister, and stepmother Mary Hoffman.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Hennessey Senior Citizens Center with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
