Heavy thunderstorms swept through the Hennessey area early Sunday morning, June 15th, bringing strong winds and torrential rain that caused damage in the northeast part of town.
At approximately 3:25 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northern Kingfisher County. Shortly after, reports of storm-related damage began to come in.
At 525 N. Oak, a large tree broke off and fell, narrowly missing the home. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A commercial building located at 416 E. Jack Choate Avenue (Highway 51), owned by Mike and Megan Wren, sustained significant damage when high winds peeled back a portion of the roof. The interior suffered extensive water damage. Megan Wren and Mary Mitchell operate a beauty salon in the building and plan to begin repairs as soon as possible. Photos by AAH Jack Quirk.
