Phillip Lee Spencer of Hennessey, Oklahoma, graduated to heaven on April 15, 2025, after almost a year-and-a-half-long battle with melanoma cancer. He passed away in his home in Norman, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family.
Phillip was born March 17, 1966, in Hennessey, Oklahoma, to Marilyn and Bill Spencer.
Phillip graduated from Hennessey High School in 1984, and attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor’s in meteorology. He worked as a meteorologist while he continued his education and eventually earned his doctoral degree in meteorology from Pennsylvania State University in 2002. Phillip moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where he married Heather Lynn Bailey on November 24, 2001, and they had three children together: Sydney, Kate, and Luke. His first love was Jesus Christ and spreading the joy of the Lord and the gospel to all those he encountered. He was an avid football fan and never missed an OU or Miami Dolphins football game. Most of all, he enjoyed attending his daughter’s volleyball matches and his son’s baseball tournaments.
Phillip is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Heather; two daughters, Sydney and Kate; one son, Luke; his mother, Marilyn Spencer; one sister, Kim Hallmark and her husband Wayne; and one brother, John Spencer, and his wife, Teresa. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Spencer.
Phillip accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his adolescence and served Him faithfully every day of his life. Through every triumph and tribulation, he praised the Lord and brought great glory to his name. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
A private Celebration of Phillip’s Life will be held at a later date.
