On Monday, March 17, Sharon Saulmon from Friends of the Library in Oklahoma (FOLIO) delivered 100 childrenโs books to the Hennessey Friends of the Library as part of a grant.
Ginger Cox, the vice president of Hennessey Friends of the Library, found out about a special grant from FOLIO. This grant helps public libraries across Oklahoma by giving them books. The goal is to make sure kids have books at home to help them get ready for school. Studies show that kids who donโt have books at home may struggle more in school, which can affect their future learning.
The Hennessey FOL partnered with The Hennessey Girl Scout Troop 8015 plan to start a small lending library on the north side of town. This way, kids can pick up books to read and return them when theyโre done so others can enjoy them, too!
