HENNESSEY, OK โ Two Hennessey firefighters, Kyle Keeton and Dustin Grellner, have successfully earned their Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certifications after completing a 12-week training course. The program, started before construction began on the new fire station, covered essential emergency skills, including patient assessments, bleeding control, airway management with oxygen therapy, and trauma stabilization.
Thanks to tuition assistance from the Hennessey Round-Up Club, Keeton and Grellner are now state-licensed EMRs, bringing the departmentโs total number of medically licensed staff to five. With their certifications and Heartland Medical Direction Protocols, they will also receive specialized training to expand their skill set.
The EMR class was organized by Sara Kaiser through Heartland Medical Education. Additionally, Hennessey Fire Chief Brandon Scott and Levi Copeland have become certified instructors with Heartland Medical Education and are currently leading a new EMR course.
