Hennessey Board of Education Members listened to a Zoom presentation by Brightwell Solar Company at Monday, February 10th meeting.
Brightwell Solar presented a proposal to the school board outlining a cost-saving solar energy project aimed at significantly reducing utility expenses for local schools. The plan involves installing U.S.-made solar panels on four school buildings, with a 30-year performance warranty. The project is expected to offset 67% of Hennessy’s energy usage, cutting annual energy costs from $117,000 to $46,000—an immediate savings of $61,690 per year.
During the presentation, Brightwell claimed that beyond financial benefits, the solar panels would reduce carbon emissions by 482 tons annually, protect school roofs, and withstand extreme weather conditions. Brightwell will cover all maintenance and monitoring costs with zero insurance expenses during the service period.
The board asked several questions and took no action.
