The Hennessey High School senior students experienced a valuable reality check on Wednesday, February 5th! The Kingfisher County OSU Extension Office, along with the help of volunteers, conducted a โReality Checkโ program for the seniors. This initiative helps young adults develop essential financial skills for their future.
The Reality Check program teaches students about fiscal responsibility by presenting them with real-life scenarios where they must make financial decisions regarding rent or mortgage, utilities, insurance, vehicles, and entertainment. Each senior was assigned a unique scenario, which included factors such as their job status, marital status, and whether they had children.
The students began their experience at a bank and then progressed to various tables, where they calculated what they could afford and how to budget their finances effectively. AAH, Shelley Muzny
