This January, residents at Hennessey Nursing and Rehab embraced the spirit of the Chinese New Year, which fell on January 29 this year. Residents requested a special Chinese food night as part of their meal that month. The center served them a delicious menu featuring sweet and sour chicken, stir-fried vegetables, and crispy egg rolls. As a sweet touch, each meal was accompanied by a fortune cookie, offering a little wisdom and fun for all.
Residents, including Sara Ellis, who was born in the Year of the Snake, one of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac, gathered to enjoy the meal. The center organized an afternoon filled with fun activities and prizes to commemorate the Year of the Snake. Residents enjoyed various prizes, including articulated toy snakes and traditional Chinese yo-yos.
To make the celebration even more personal, every resident received a mask representing the animal corresponding to their birth year, adding a unique and meaningful touch to the festivities. This event was fun for the residents. The center staff looks forward to more celebrations that bring joy in the coming months!
