Harvey Dean Rutherford was born to JT and Orine Rutherford on December 25, 1946 in Artesia, New Mexico. He went on to be with our Lord on January 29, 2025. He was 78 years old.
At a very young age he started working in the electrical field and excelled quickly. During that time, he met Ivan Taggart. Ivan mentioned he had a daughter Ramona and set them up on a blind date and that’s where it all began.
Harvey and Ramona Taggart were married in Hennessey on August 25, 1972. They made their home east of Hennessey where they raised their 6 children. His job took him all over the US to provide for his family. He made many sacrifices to make sure his family was provided for.
In his later years with his failing years, he lit up every time he saw his grandchildren and great grand kids. He loved dancing around the living room with them and getting down on the floor and playing with them.
He was a long-time member of the Victory Baptist Church in Kingfisher. He served as the Church Treasurer for many years. In his death he will be remembered as a hardworking, caring man who loved the lord.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Ramona Taggart Rutherford. Their six children, Don Brown (Lisa) of Hennessey, Keith Brown (April) of Newcastle, Tom Brown (Michele) of Cashion, Deana Mills (Mickey) of Raleigh, NC, Mike Brown (Kim) of Enid, Rachel Farnsworth (Josh) of Hennessey, twenty-one Grandchildren and twenty-eight Great-Grandchildren. His sister Tessie Bean of Washington and his twin brother Harold Rutherford of West Virgina.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 2 sisters, daughter Angalina Faith, and Great-Granddaughter Halli Marie, and mother and father in-law’s Ivan and Frances Taggart.
The Rutherford Family would like to extend our gratitude for all the prayers, love, and support we have received during this difficult time from the Victory Baptist Church and a special thank you to former Pastor Barry Farnsworth and Patricia Farnsworth, Current Pastor Isaac Farnsworth and Christine Farnsworth all of Kingfisher.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday February 3, 2025 at Victory Baptist Church with burial following at Lyon Valley Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
