Charlene Dale Franks

Charlene Dale Franks was born on July 24, 1941, in Konawa, Oklahoma. She went on to be with our Lord on January 24, 2025. She was 83 years old.

Charlene grew up in Konawa, Oklahoma, where she attended Summers Chapel Country School. During her high school years, she attended and graduated from Vamoosa Public Schools, where she met the love of her life, David A. Franks. They were married for 65 long, wonderful years. Charlene was a seamstress both professionally and personally, making many of her children’s clothes when they were little.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Lela Moore; her brother, Edward Lee Moore; and her sister, Sue Ivey. She is survived by her husband, D.A. Franks, and their four children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. D.A. and Charlene both grew up in Konawa and eventually moved to Ada, where they started their family with their firstborn, Carol. They then moved to Pauls Valley, where Clinton was born. In 1981, they took up residence in Hennessey, Oklahoma, where their family continued to grow, and they had two more children, Krista and Janet.

Her surviving family members are as follows: Brother David Moore of Sulphur, Oklahoma; Brother Donald Moore of Waukomis, Oklahoma; Brother Larry Moore of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Daughter Carol Roller and her spouse, David Roller, of Hennessey (who have two children, Ciara and Tori); Ciara Eberle and her spouse, Christian Eberle, who have three children, Lincoln, Gabriella, and Remiel, with one on the way; Son Clinton Franks of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and his wife, Carly Franks, who have two children, Brandt and Keely; Daughter Krista Lewis of Sulphur, Oklahoma, and her spouse, Bradley Lewis, who have two children, Zachary and Emily; Daughter Janet Stamm of El Reno, Oklahoma, and her spouse, Glenn Stamm, who have three children: KodiJo and her son, John; and Gretchen and Kenna Stamm.

Mom enjoyed her home with D.A., having family dinners together, and talking on the phone with her family. She found lots of joy just hanging out and playing with grandkids and great-grandkids. She also liked playing the domino game “Moon” with family and friends or reading a good book. She enjoyed watching Ree Drummond and Hallmark movies on TV. Charlene loved catering to others as well, often cooking everyone’s favorite food to make sure everyone felt loved. That love was returned by all.

To honor her life, services will be held at First Baptist Church in Hennessey on January 31, 2025, at 1:00, with graveside services to follow under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. Viewing will be on Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

At the request of the family and to honor one of Charlene’s favorite things, please, if you have one, wear an Eskimo Joe’s shirt to the funeral. Also, feel free to drink a root beer or sweet tea and enjoy a honey bun or zebra cake in her memory. She would be tickled. Just no pasta.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Baxter Patient Care Fund at Integris Health, Enid with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
