On Monday, January 20, 2025, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of US-81 and Summer Road north of Bison, OK. According to a report by OHP the collision occurred at approximately 7 am. A 2013 Nissan driven by Adrian Galaviz, age 24, of Hennessey, OK. was southbound on US-81 and departed the roadway to the right, reentered southbound lanes, then departed the roadway to the left into the median and into the northbound lanes in the path of a 2004 GMC Envoy.
The GMC was operated by Janet Hicks, age 63, of Marshall, OK. Hicks and Galaviz were both pronounced deceased at the scene by Waukomis Fire Department. According to the OHP report the passenger of the GMC, Mathew Hicks age 29, of Marshall, OK. was transported by Air Evac to OU Trauma Center with unknown injuries. Photo by Travis Beams
