KINGFISHERS LOSS IS HENNESSEYS GAIN

Look out, Hennessey, you are getting a good one!

Brenda Jimenez (Him-enez) is an Oklahoma native born and raised in Kingfisher. She graduated from Kingfisher High School in the spring of 2019 and went onto the University of Central Oklahoma thereafter. While at UCO, Brenda obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology the fall of 2022 and her Master of Science in Psychology the fall of 2024. After receiving her first degree, she knew she wanted to further her studies and specialize in a specific field. After working closely with the Kingfisher High School counselors she knew what that specific field would be. When interviewing Brenda she stated that, “Mrs. Leffingwell and Mrs. Baustert are genuinely kind and hard working people. It was admirable watching them interact with students and create a difference in many of their lives.” Throughout her time working at KHS the counseling pair offered support and advice as she navigated this newfound journey, and gave her the inspiration to begin her masters in school counseling. Starting January 7th, Brenda will be living out her dream as an Elementary School Counselor at Hennessey Public Schools.

As a teenager Brenda always wondered what she would be when she grew up and where life would take her. When she considered her many options, she realized that most of the careers she was looking into revolved around helping others and now that’s what she plans to do, to the fullest extent. Brenda’s work is so important to her because she has seen first hand the kind of difference a school counselor can make on students. She wants every child to feel accepted, recognized, and encouraged in their education. Having an adult figure that roots for students at school is vital and makes a world of a difference.

Brenda has always been very proud of her Mexican American heritage. “Being bilingual is a blessing that has the ability to reach many people. Working in a town where I will be able to implement my bilingual abilities means so much to me, as I hope I will be able to help those around me”. Brenda cannot wait to interact and contribute to the Hennessey community, and contribute she will. “Everyone is so proud of Brenda, but she will be so missed! She’s a light to everyone around her and KHS was blessed by her presence. I know the students at her new school are going to need someone like her”, said Melody Wilfong, one of Brenda’s former coworkers from Kingfisher.

Brenda would like to thank her family and friends for the impact that they have had on her life and especially during this journey. So many of you have played an important role in helping her achieve her current accomplishments, and she couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you! From your Kingfisher Family, we will miss you, but we wish you the best of luck on your new adventure. Go Eagles!
