The (6-4) Hennessey Eagles headed all the way to Davis to face off in the first round of playoffs in what would prove to me an awesome showdown. Davis’s run first attack would generate their offense, but the Eagles defense shut them down immediately. Unfortunately following a 3 and out for the Eagles, their inaugural punt attempt was taken back for a touchdown, and they trailed 7-0. Luckily though, Beau Vinson would connect with Gunnar Holder down to the 1 yard line, with Holder punching it in for 6, a missed PAT would lead to a 7-6 ball game. The Davis offense then proceeded to start rolling, gashing the Eagles heavily through the ground and pound, taking a commanding 21-6 lead before Kevin Trillo and Holder struck through the air for a 21-14 ball game. Davis wouldn’t be stopped though, and once again scored, but the Eagles were just as resilient. Back and forth scoring led to a clutch defensive stop for Hennessey right before half, as they would get the ball only trailing by 7, with Davis leading 34-27. Unfortunately, the Eagles air-raid was bottled effectively in the 2nd half, and Trillo’s hat trick 3rd touchdown at the end of the ballgame was too little too late. The boys lost to the Wolves 48-34. PSA from Taylor, as this is my last Hennessey football story, I want to give a quick thank you to all of those who listened via hennesseyeagles.tv and have read the recaps I write here for All About Hennessey. Basketball season kicks off in early December, so we will be back in no time, in the meantime, thank you for the support through the years, it has meant the world!
