Memorial services for Daniel Lee Faulkner, 77 will be at 2:00 PM Saturday November 9, 2024 at Hooker High School Gymnasium officiated by Mike McReynolds. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.
Dan was born in Guymon on August 21, 1947 to Dewey Lee and Mabel Marie Cooley Faulkner and died Wednesday November 6, 2024 at his home in Enid.
He married Melissa Anne Dannels in Richfield, Kansas on July 18, 1987.
Dan was a band director and school administrator throughout his career. He was a well-known musician having written over one hundred songs and recorded two albums, “Grateful Heart” and “Oklahoma Grows”. He sang at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Festival in Norman, Oklahoma in 1989.
Dan is survived by his wife Melissa of the home; two daughters Dana Saylor of Hooker, Allyssa Gutierrez of Edmond, three sons, Danny Faulkner of Straight, Joshua Faulkner and wife Riley of Hennessey, Drew Faulkner of Enid; grandchildren Mariah Luera and husband Chuck, Roman Rodriguez and wife Aubrey, Zach Saylor and wife Sarah, Emily Haney and husband Tyler, Jonathan Gutierrez, Tyler Gutierrez, Lennox Faulkner, Leighton Faulkner; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister Vera Hale and husband Don, and one aunt Virginia Griffith and husband Bob; and many nieces and nephews; and many colleagues and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Theresa Storts. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hooker Band Program with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
