EAGLES FIRST-HALF BLUDGEON CORRALES THE PONIES!

The (3-3) Eagles traveled to Kellyville for another Thursday district matchup. Kellyville started off the game in a pretty insane fashion, recovering an onside kick, then having to redo it, and recovering it again! Their offense, though, was extremely weak and was held in check all game long. The first offensive drive for the Eagles was a routing through the air between Gunnar Holder and Hunter Weber. Weber picked up 98 yards and a touchdown on 4 receptions in the game, 69 of which came on the opening possession. The Eagles quickly jumped up 8-0, never to relinquish the lead. A turnover on downs deep in their own territory was nullified by a once again poor outing offensively for the Ponies, followed by a Hagen Copeland touchdown for the 14-0 lead at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. The next score was courteous of a tricky handoff to Jakob Johns, who punched it in from 5 yards out. The Eagles’ defense was playing very physical against the Ponies, as up until their first score in the 3rd quarter, they had only gathered 2 first downs. Jessin Hardin tagged onto the shelling, with a short rushing touchdown to make it 28-0. Hagen Copeland had the play of the night. Following another good defensive drive, the Ponies were forced to punt it away backed up way inside their territory, Copeland fielded it at midfield and ran it all the way back to the house for a punt return touchdown, that would be the final score of the first half, concluding at 34-0. Braedyn Richardson would be the final score for the Eagles, as they finished victorious 40-8 in Kellyville. by AAH Taylor Ladwig, photos by AAH Shelley Muzny.
