Tanner was born and raised on a small farm and ranch just northwest of Hennessey. His parents are Rox and Michelle Beckner. He has 1 Sister, Tessa.
Tanner graduated from Hennessey High School in 2003 and then attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where he played two years of Football. He graduated with a degree in criminal justice. During college, Tanner met his now wife, Erica (who is 1 of our two speech pathologists at Hennessey Schools). Tanner applied to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and was accepted into the Academy in the spring of 2007. After graduating from Patrol school, Tanner was assigned to Troop J (Enid). Tanner and Erica married in the summer of 2008 and made their home just a mile from where he grew up.
As he continued his career with the Highway Patrol, Tanner has spent 13 years as a member of OHPS underwater search and recovery team, and is certified as a North American Truck inspector. This is a federal certification that allows him to conduct safety inspections of Commercial motor vehicles that travel the Highways of Oklahoma. In 2018 Tanner transferred to “Troop S” full time, where his main duties for the Highway Patrol are to conduct CMV inspections. After almost six years in Troop S and 17 years on the patrol, Tanner has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant as of September 22, 2024
Tanner and Erica have two beautiful daughters, Emma and Grace. Both girls enjoy competitive dance and basketball. In the winter, Tanner takes on the role of “Dance Dad” and coaches their YMCA basketball teams.
