HENNESSEY FOOTBALL VS NEWKIRK

The (1-2) Hennessey Eagles had their homecoming game against the Newkirk Tigers last night! The Eagles, coming off a much needed bye week to nurse some injuries, started off the game with an absolute bang to their homecoming king, Jakob Jones, across the middle for a 52 yard score to get the Eagles in control early. They followed that up with a good defensive possession and then ran it up the field for an eventual touchdown scamper for Jessin Hardin. Newkirk was offensively was hoping to fair better in the 2nd quarter, in which they entered down 15-0. It would continue to work against the Tigers though, as this time Braedyn Richardson punched it into paydirt, followed by a score for Gunnar Holder. Just like that, the Eagles led by 29 with no signs of slowing down. An interception for the Eagles gave them prime field position again, which capped off Hardin’s second touchdown of the ball game. Halftime came to a close with Newkirk only getting into Eagle territory twice, and the score 35-0. Richardson would score the final touchdown of the ball game for the Eagles in the second half, as they utilized their young guys for a majority of the half. Newkirk finally got an offense working, but by then the score 45-0 following an made field goal by Luis Macias-Montoya. Newkirk would punch it in twice, but far too late, as the Eagles walked away victorious on their homecoming night! Final score 45-12. Next week, the boys travel to a top 10 ranked Alva team.
