After almost 93 years of experience Rosalie Mirkes earned her heavenly wings in Stillwater Oklahoma on June 9th 2024. She was a devoted farmers wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was born August 6th 1931 to Raymond Iven and Agnes “Vaverka” Iven in the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Vaverka Sr., of Bison Oklahoma.
Rosalie Iven married Nick Mirkes in Hennessey, Oklahoma on June 1, 1949. They farmed and ranched in the Lovell, Marshall, Douglas, and Hennessey area for many years.
Rosalie is survived by two sons, Jim Mirkes and wife Kay of Frisco, Texas, and Keith Mirkes and wife Rita Veal of Stillwater Oklahoma: two daughters, Brenda Tripp and husband Gary of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Diana Schutte, and husband John “AKA Butch” of Broken Arrow Oklahoma. Three sisters-in-law, Lucy Turner of Huntsville, Alabama., Rita O’Hern of McComb, Illinois, and Phylis Mirkes of Hennessey, Oklahoma. Ten grandchildren, Rayna Crain, Justin Mirkes, Chris Mirkes, Curtis Mirkes, Craig Mirkes, Brian Vogel, Mark Vogel, Kevin Vogel, Brad Schutte, Katie Schutte; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nick, son-in-law Sammie Vogel, and one great-grandchild Ashley Vogel.
Rosary will be 7:00 PM Thursday June 13, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Friday June 14, 2024 at St. Josephs officiate by Rev. Edward Menasco. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
Donations may be made in her name to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Autism Speaks, or The Alzheimer’s Association with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund
