The Friends of the Library (FOL) organize two major fundraisers each year. These events include the pumpkin patch in October and the Chili cook off in January. The recent Chili cook off fundraiser, with a theme of Chili ‘Round the World, was a great success. The event was held in the high school cafeteria, and participants competed for various awards such as Best Table Decoration, Cooks Choice, Peoples Choice, and Top Dollar. This year’s winners were as follows: Best Table Decoration:1st Place – Diamond M Cattle (Sarah Matousek & girls)2nd Place – First United Methodist Church (Sandy Shepherd)3rd Place – 4T’s (Tim Taylor) Chili Cook’s Choice:1st Place – Diamond M Cattle (Sarah Matousek & girls)2nd Place – 4T’s (Tim Taylor)3rd Place – Reese and Sutton Meek People’s Choice:1st Place – Wheatland Veterinary Hospital2nd Place (Tie) – Diamond M Cattle (Sarah Matousek & girls) and Sirrah Investments3rd Place (Tie) – Griffin Resources and Reese & Sutton Meek Top Dollar:1st Place – First United Methodist Church2nd Place – Diamond M Cattle3rd Place – 4T’s Overall, the Chili cook off fundraiser raised an impressive amount of $3,232 for the Friends of the Hennessey Library. These funds will go towards supporting the library through volunteer service and other important projects.
