The Lady Eagles matched up against the Chisholm Lady Longhorns last night. The Eagles got out to a hot start, with their defense playing extremely well and limiting Chisholm to 1 point in the entire 1st quarter. The Longhorns got it going in the 2nd and cut their deficit, but it wasn’t enough and they trailed going into halftime. They would never surmount the Hennessey lead, as the Lady Eagles had Emma Copeland, Kadee Meeker, Star Torres, and Ally Painter all go for double-digit points. They shot very well from beyond the arc en route to their 53-28 win over Chisholm.
The 5th-ranked Eagles had what would prove to be a tight game against the Longhorns. Neither team got much going in the 1st and momentum wasn’t established for either side. The Eagles started to pull away in the 2nd courtesy of Jael Torres being a force down low, and they went into halftime with a lead. It continued to be a very back-and-forth affair, with neither team ever being able to establish a potent attack. In the 4th, as the clock winded down the Eagles had a double-digit lead, but Chisholm’s leading scorer had other plans. He knocked down tough shots to cut it to just a one-score deficit. The boys would hold on though, and win 53-48.
